Meraas, the developer behind The Beach at JBR, Boxpark, and City Walk, has announced that the first phase of Al Seef is now open to the public along Dubai Creek. We visited the place and it is amazing. This 1.8 km long destination intends to tell Dubai’s story through its modern as well as traditional architecture and unique experiences, enabling visitors to rediscover the heart of the city along its much-loved creek.
Moto of the place is ‘Where Heritage meets Urbanisation’ and Meraas has proved it to be true. It is located adjacent to Al Fahidi historical district. First phase which is now open to the public covers two main areas. A heritage area which is patterned after old architecture in Dubai and a Sophisticated contemporary area contains sleek architectural spaces that blend seamlessly. Described by Meraas as
‘Bridging the gap between the old and new, Al Seef will bring to life elements of old Dubai by recreating experiences rooted in local culture and heritage, while revitalising the tourism experience around one of the UAE’s most popular locations’
The second phase of the destination, scheduled for delivery at the end of the first quarter of next year, will comprise of an authentic souq, similar to those that were common in Dubai in the 1950s, with a traditional vibe and delightful retail and dining experiences of its own.
Here is the map which shows exactly where it is located.
What to do?
Al Seef is a shopping, dining, entertainment and tourism destination covering 2.5 million square feet and housing nearly 500 shops, art galleries and eateries – including a selection of floating restaurants, as well as a floating market.
You can walk and cherish the exquisiteness of the architecture or just sit overlooking Dubai Creek and Marina enjoying the peace and view. Trust us, you will get instagram worthy pics as well.;)
How do I get there?
Al Seef is fully pedestrianised and benefits from a multimodal transport system that links to key locations across the city. Dubai International Airport and Downtown Dubai are both a short drive for those arriving by car. Burjuman and Al Fahidi Metro stations are located close by. The creek offers access to Al Seef with yacht moorings; water taxis and abras that service the destination.
We will keep you posted in further advancements in the place but till than you have to visit this place once!
