When we decided to start our Big Trip around the world in Dubai, there were a few things that had to be on our Dubai itinerary. Besides the obvious highlights (Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah and the Burj al Arab) I really wanted to make a desert safari. Wide deserted landscapes are kind of my thing, so besides exploring the glitter and glamour of Dubai I really wanted to get out of the city and into the desert safari. And so we did!
Dubai’s landscape is mostly formed of sandy desert patterns along with gravel deserts dominating the southern region of the UAE. Its sand is clean, white, and fine consists of crushed shell and coral. Dubai desert safari in the surrounding sandy desert is a thrilling and electrifying experience. It is very difficult to choose amongst a variety of adventurous desert trips. The journey starts from pick up point boarding into 4×4 wheel drive.
First up on the desert safari itinerary was dune bashing. I didn’t know it until I did it, but I love dune bashing?. It was such a thrill to drive through the desert, drifting over the tall sand dunes and feeling your stomach lurch after a steep drop over the top of a dune. Our driver really knew what he was doing and rightfully so, this isn’t something you can do yourself without proper training! It would be very cool to learn though…
Sand boarding is very much similar to ice skating; the only difference is that it is done on sand dunes. By using wooden boards, you can surf on the sand and experience the desert like never before. All are welcome to try this activity, as getting balanced on the board is only thing needed. Don’t be tensed of getting injured since the sand beneath you is too soft and you can just freely surf over the dunes.
After some quad biking next stop was camp ! Inside the camp it feels kind of like a fair. There are long rows of dining tables set atop a long carpet with pillows for chairs. At the center of the camp is a stage. There are booths/huts for food and coffee , one for henna tattoos. Actually it feels like a fair and a mini-community at the same time.
After that there were three dances beautifully performed.
1. Tanoura dance is a form of folkloric dance which is very common in Egypt. It’s indeed one of the highlights of Dubai desert safari as well. Tanoura means skirt in English and it is usually performed by Sufi men for the Sufi music, who spin continuously like the dervish dancers in the Levant and Turkey
2.Fire Dance
3. Belly dance is also the charm for the tourist visiting Dubai dunes. Every one wants to see live elly dance, and we are providing the belly dance in our desert safari camp. We have best belly dancer how entertain you in the way that you never forget.
At last in the dinner ,
There were lot of different types of food and most specially Arabic food– falafel, samoas, beans, pita bread, salad green, hummus and Khubz(khaboos).I think people tend to get a little overwhelmed by the scent and taste created by the mixture of spices Finally It was time to leave. But not before looking up to the sky and admire the stars. I can only imagine what the sky must look like a little further into the desert where it’s pitch black except for the shiny stars…
Altogehter it was a fantastic day .
On the next day we went for Dubai Safari Park Which is also a great experience
