Guys if you love star gazing and enjoy all the cosmological events then head out the city this weekend to a place where the city lights don’t obstruct your views as the skies will light up with shooting stars due to Leonid Meteor shower.

Leonid meteor shower is an annual phenomenon and gets its name from constellation Leo from where the meteorites originate. Many viewers await this prominently visible meteor shower as the flaming fireballs fall at the rate as high as 50,000 per hour sometimes. The Leonid meteor shower peaks on the night of Friday, November 17, and early the following morning.

UAE viewers will get a celestial treat to an hourly 10 to 20 meteors on the peak date on Friday, according to reports in Sky and Telescope. Hassan Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, said “The new moon will appear on November 18 and so will not be overshadowed by lunar light. Instead, this will help provide better chances to view of the meteors. Meteors might be visible a few days before and after the peak.”

The Dubai Astronomy Group has organized an event open for the public to observe the breath-taking celestial phenomenon from Friday evening until early morning on Saturday. However, you can view the spectacular event on your own with naked eyes. All you need is to have clear skies above

Don’t miss the occasion as this is a rare occurrence. Count all the shooting stars and wake up the inner child in you.
